All of us are already well aware of the importance of filtration in today’s time when the pollution levels are increasing everywhere be it in the air in the atmosphere or in the water bodies even the water that we drink is not pure. Therefore it becomes very important to get the water or even the air filtered and for that process of filtration, there are various types of advanced and latest technologies and the procedures that are followed by the people. Though there are different types of filtration systems that are designed keeping in mind different types of filtration needs such as there are different treatment and filtration systems used for the process of air filtration and also for the process of water filtration there are different types of filtration plants and processes that are used.
Here we will discuss the process of water treatment and filtration and for that, the UF Purifiers or we should say the ultrafiltration system is the most popular out of all the techniques and processes that are taken into use for this purpose. So, we would be discussing details about the same system so that it becomes very clear in everyone’s mind.
What is ultrafiltration? The process of ultrafiltration or the ultrafiltration system is a membrane-based process of filtration. The pore size of this membrane is generally 103-106 Daltons. The water produced through this process is generally very high in terms of purity. The procedure is very much similar to the procedure that is followed by the reverse osmosis technique. Just like the reverse osmosis technique this Ultrafiltration process is also mostly used for the treatment of drinking water. What is the working process of an Ultrafiltration plant in India? The Ultrafiltration plant works with the help of the fibers that are hollow and the water further flows into the shells or in the fibers, as the part of the workings of this procedure the high molecular weighted solutes and the suspended solids are forced to remain and the rest of the water is passed through the membrane. The Ultrafiltration plant works on the same fundamental that is followed by microfiltration, nanofiltration, and also reverse osmosis the only difference is of the size of the retained molecules. Advantages of using an Ultrafiltration plant: An Ultrafiltration plant doesn’t require chemicals for the treatment of the water. The technique is good for removing particles and for the removal of microbes. The plant is of compact design and also the process is easy to be conducted. The plant is very much eco- friendly. Materials that are eliminated from the water with the help of Ultrafiltration: Plastics. Proteins. Silica. Smog. Viruses. Endotoxins. Maintaining Ultrafiltration plant: If we talk about the ultrafiltration system maintenance then we can say that the membranes that are used as filters need to be cleaned in a proper manner. The process of cleaning would depend on the type of treatment that is conducted by the plant that is the procedure of cleaning may differ depending on the fact that is it the organic containment that is removed from the water or is it the inorganic containment that is being removed. If the plant is more into the removal of organic containments then the process of cleaning the membrane should be done using the low foam the medium foam or the alkaline detergent at the level of 0.6 to 1% and the process should be conducted for a time period of 40 minutes to 1 hour. If the plant is more into the removal of inorganic containments then the cleaning o membrane should be done with the help of the Citric acid and the acid should be the concentration of 3.0 % and that is the maximum. Circulation of 1 to 3 hours of the acid would get the plant well cleaned. The hydrochloric acids can also be used for the process of cleaning. So, this is all about the definition, working process, and also the advantages that are associated with the Ultrafiltration technique. This is surely going to help the people with the formation of a better understanding of the technique.
